Ther Bears have been busy this week. Here are the biggest stories and my take on them.

Rivalry Uniforms

These uniforms have divided the fan base. The uniforms are a tribute to teams in the past. (Once I learn what photos I can and cannot put on here these blogs are going to go so hard If you haven't seen the uniforms go look them up). These uniforms consist of the navy-blue jersey with block orange letters, a big GSH patch, orange pants, knee high blue socks and the orange helmets. There are tons of hidden meanings in these jerseys all representing teams of the past. One side of the fan base wanted all the other ai jersey mockups including the polar bear uniforms or all black or others. They also hate the idea of being stuck in the past and wanting to move on. This is a new team not the 85 team. The other side of the fan base likes honoring the traditions and roots of this team and love the uniforms.

Where am I at on this? Probably the lamest answer out there but I am in the middle. I know, "that's fucking lame, pick a side Fergi". Well, here is my logic. The uniforms are sick as hell. The color scheme pops on screen, and it still looks classic and not just a mess of colors. I also liked the polar bear uniforms but everyone's doing the icy white look, and we have such iconic colors so why not play into it more. I love the jerseys and hot take, I love the GSH patch on the front. These uniforms are going to be electric to see on the field and to be honest they are light years better than the Packers. Most of the people who don't like the uniforms wanted their favorite AI mockup to be the right one.

Now all that being said I agree, this is a new team, and I hate being stuck in the past. The 85 bears were 41 years ago, and we haven't had a team that noteworthy since and we finally have one. It seems like the Bears organization is just happy with being like "Hey remember that one time before most our fan base was even born? Yeah, that was so cool." Instead of looking at the potential of the future. I agree with this statement. I don't mind honoring the teams of the past and the uniform is awesome, but when it is everything, this franchise does then it gets too much and becomes repetitive and annoying. Everything is always look at our history. If they weren't always cramming it down our throats, then the jerseys wouldn't have as much of the negative press that they are getting.

Also, the commercial with Urlacher, Hester, Samurai Mike, Swift and Monongai is sick as fuck too.

Sexy Dexy

So there have been rumblings amongst the NFL that there might be a sexy Dexy trade coming up. No, not that sexy Dexy. Gervon Dexter is the sexy Dexy I am referring to. There was a report that Bears are looking to trade him instead of extending him. I love Gervon Dexter and liked the draft selection but we need to let him go. He has been very underwhelming and although his box stats aren't bad the eye test is not what we wanted to see. If we can get good return for him I think this is the right move. Now, do I think we are doing a 1 for 1 trade with him to the Raiders for Max Crosby? Absolutely not. I think we are looking at an at best 3rd round pick or maybe we group him up with some other stuff to sweeten the deal for a splashy pick but that's a dream scenario. There are a lot of teams looking to strengthen their interior offensive line and he would help. With Van Den Berg shining I think the team is ready to move on. Hopefully we can get something for him.

The Incomplete Pass

Holy fuck who gets more negative press than Ice Man Williams. Last year it was the net drill where he missed some in the offseason now it is 1 incomplete pass to Colston Loveland in a preseason game. Everything he does is overanalyzed and ran with to tear him apart. I am here to give my take on the play. Let me overanalyze it. Here is my take. It was a preseason pass. There, that's the take. He slightly overthrew Loveland on a 1st and 20 and if he completes it he's a God but if he misses it its front-page news and now, he is in a slump. Its preseason and was an incomplete pass. Nothing more. I'm sure Williams and Ben Johnson will cover it together, but it meant nothing. The story here is that an incomplete pass, ONE INCOMPLETE PASS, had a 20-minute segment dissecting it on the ESPN network as well as had numerous NFL shows covering the clip as well. Holy shit man. Its preseason. Lets drop it (No pun intended).

Return of Da Jedis

Guess whose back, back again! Our teams back, tell a friend! We have had numerous players returning back to camp. Ozzy "The Beast from Da East" Trapilo is back and working out, Darth Luther is on the field, Tyrique Da Freak, Keyshaun Elliot, Darnell Wright, and others. This is big. This brings depth to the field as well as returning some of our terrorizing starters as well. Look for a mostly healthy team starting week 1. Hopefully, (Knock on wood), we can stay healthy over the next week.

Chocolate Chip Rookies

This heading doesn't make any sense, but I love it. Basically, what I want to say here is that our rookies are fucking cooking in practice! Thieneman Toast Crunch is getting his groove in camp guarding Loveland well and getting numerous pass break ups on our elite offense. I guess Iron does sharpen iron. His speed is really shining through. Malik Muhammad is starting to understand the nickel position which is huge with no return date for Gordon. Jordan Van Den Berg is running hot and looking for a starting spot on this defensive line. Last year's rookies were amazing, and it looks like Poles may have cooked here again. Something to watch for this year. If we can keep the rookies rocking and keep hitting in the draft, we might be onto something here.
